Marcus almost lost his mind seeing Terrance watch him and his sister having sex.

One night in a filthy basement changed Marcus’ life forever. Losing your virginity to the love of your life in front of your girlfriend’s twin brother is one thing. Figuring out what it all means is another problem altogether. Marcus knows his love for Torie runs deep as a summer day is long. But life offers little sunshine or clear skies when Terrance is around.

Love is complicated. Marcus learns this hard truth trying to figure out what his young heart really wants; what it REALLY needs. But is knowing what the heart longs for enough? Infidelity, heartache and dreams deferred will all test the bounds to which Marcus is willing to go for a love not even he expected.

Will Marcus find what he is looking for or will he forever be torn?

TORN A Black Gay Coming of Age Story Book 1 of 3 edition by BEAST Literature Fiction eBooks

I enjoyed this read even though I had a few questions. I liked Marcus but his relationship with Torie seemed more like just a friendship. I understood she was dealing with her issues but she was a little wishy washy at times. Then the way she went about things was crazy. I think she should've put Marcus in the know and not taken things further knowing about the possibility of what could come out of the abuse she suffered. As for Terrence, I was wondering why he was so comfortable in the basement. Like did he already sense Marcus was struggling with his sexuality? Made me wonder if his father had ever abused him. Omar was a shocker and had me saying whoa. Dude was in denial for sure. Marcus' mother had me mad with the way she reacted. I couldn't believe she would feel how she felt. It's what a lot of young men deal with from their parents when things come to light. I think she should've been more understanding instead of trying to making him an outcast because she felt it wasn't the Christian thing to do. Marcus is most definitely torn and I can't wait to find out how he deals with everything.

I am loving all of Gavin books. they keep you wanting more. I would recommend his books to all of my friends
I'm about to order Torn 2 because I must know more of how the story ends...or continues.
This was one of the best books I've read in a LONG time. The story line was well thought out and everything flowed nicely. I love Marcus and Terrance together ).
Great book and characters. Story line was typical, but with a couple of twists. The book ended too quick before the characters got a chance to make you love or dislike them. Overall, the read is easy and a page turner. Looking forward to the continuation.
This is the first book I've read of Gavin ML Fletcher and it was awesome. In my opinion, it is a must read for all. It is well written, exciting and erotic all at the same time. Don't let it pass you by, read and enjoy!
I enjoyed this novella. Thankfully, there is a part two because if this was ending I'd be upset lol. I'm interested in seeing how all the relationships develop. I'm very interested in seeing what happens to Terrance in addition to Marcus and his mother. Good job. Off to part 2.
I hope Mr. Fletcher decides to keep writing. His potential is evident in this novella. My main gripe about this read is that Gavin writes and thinks just as some guys do, which isfew details. Not to say that he has to change the way he thinks, but thinking outside the box would expand not only his word count but the 'likability' of his characters. The problem in this story is that the antagonist which I will identify as Terrance does not get enough page time. I don't know him. I want to know him and yet he is a fleeting character in this book, which makes the statement at the end less meaningful.

The story overreaches in many areas. In order for readers to start to care about the characters, who go through some very traumatic circumstances, readers need more time with them. I had very little insight into what attracted Marcus to Torie in the first place let alone what he saw in Terrance. The introduction of Deidre and Marcus's subsequent attraction to her had my head spinning and broke up the flow of the story. All I wanted to get back to at that point was Terrance.Secondary characters were used so sporadically they ultimately added nothing to the story. And Torie was an altogether unlikeable character which I doubt was the authors intention, especially given the circumstances of her upbringing.

In the end nothing was resolved. SPOILERS Is Marcus gay, bi, confused? I'm confused. Will he ever reconcile with his mother and what does his father think? Was it completely realistic for him to abandon his faith (the church in which he was so invested) family, and school? Is it even realistic that Terrance, an eighteen year old male tottering between man and boyhood could make it in Mexico? I sincerely hope there will be a sequel to Torn and it will answer all the pressing questions left in this story. For sure the author is crazy talented. I hope to see his writing mature, as all, even the most gifted writers, do in time.

P.S. Mr. Fletcher please consider substituting another term for meat when describing the male anatomy. The visuals that come to mind are traumatic. O_o
